Actually - yes, I did know that it is ONE of the meanings…. m-w.com says the definition is:
Main Entry: ad·o·les·cence Pronunciation: “a-d&l-’e-s&n(t)s Function: noun 1 : the state or process of growing up 2 : the period of life from puberty to maturity terminating legally at the age of majority 3 : a stage of development (as of a language or culture) prior to maturity
and I picked definition 1 since I have no teenager at home and he is growing up too fast.
